Virtual Hugs + Tech Bugs:
A program designed to teach baby boomers modern-day technology in an effort to strengthen relationships with loved ones through virtual interactions.
Charlotte, NC- Bogues Consulting Group (BCG) has launched a community give-back initiative, Virtual Hugs + Tech Bugs, where volunteers teach the elderly how to use technology while fostering a relationship with them. The mission of this program is to bridge the gap between Gen Z and Baby Boomers which will allow Baby Boomers to confidently communicate within the digital era.
Established by CEO Brittney Bogues, Virtual Hugs + Tech Bugs was formed through her love of technology and building community. She realized the power of the digital landscape and how it can be used as a tool to connect generations. With a global pandemic sweeping the nation, it is important now more than ever to stay connected to loved ones. BCG believes in empowering our elderly community with the tools that they need to continue to make their relationships flourish.
The program consists of two stages: Beginner and Advanced. Our beginner program will be conducted via zoom or chrome cast with scheduled classes teaching our elderly participants the basics of technology devices. Once participants complete our beginner course they will transition to the advanced program. We will partner with Time over Tithe, a program where we connect volunteers to nonprofits, and participants will be matched with a high schooler that will act as a pen pal for the duration of the program. These pen pals will offer both technology teachings while fostering meaningful relationships with their matches.
“At our core, BCG is focused on curating a unique experience to encourage community and civic engagement. It is important to be a part of the solution and we want to mobilize people to affect change,” owner Brittney Bogues said.
